The Cozad community bid farewell to the Band Factory building on November 1, 2023, as plans emerged to transform it into a new art gallery for the Robert Henri Museum. The location, near the Historical Walkway, provides an ideal space for the larger gallery, which will be climate-controlled to preserve Henri's paintings. The new gallery, with five times the space of the current one, will feature 40 of Henri's works out of the 4,000 he created. Although initially planned with two floors, budget constraints led to a single-floor design, allowing for flexible exhibit changes. The gallery will showcase panels dedicated to Henri's travels, and every painting will have dual labels provided by Museum Director Peter Osborne and Irish Art History student Jessica Sharkey. The gallery's completion is expected by October, with construction by Paulsens Inc.
